Whenever I go and leave my school, I can’t help but feel nervous. Why? Because every time I pass by on a certain place which is quite near my school, I can see the group of people, specifically teenagers and young kids sniffing rugby and drinking alcohols along the streets. I can’t help but fear them because I know that they can bring harm not just to me but to other people.
Actually, I just witnessed an incident last night wherein, there were four rugby boys trying to get the jeepney driver’s money and these boys are just about 8-12 years of age. There was one unfortunate driver who became a victim of this gang. His money was robbed. The kids ran immediately when they got the money and when the driver left; they went back to their place to wait for another victim. I really got scared that moment.
I really don’t know what pushes these kinds of people to use drugs and let themselves get addicted to alcohols. Instead of using their money to buy these things, why don’t they just save it for a better cause? Don’t they even realize how harmful it is for them? Why don’t they just support themselves and be free of these uncertainties?
How I wish that our government give more focus to drug treatment. In this way, they can save many lives especially the young ones who at their early age are now becoming a victim of drugs. It’s not too late, only if they work all together, I know that they will be able to stop this problem.
Moreover, our government should also consider having treatment for alcoholism as this may also change the lives of many people. Our government must be willing to spend even million pesos to satisfy the needs of these victims and be able to save them from misery that they are currently experiencing.
