“Love means never having to say you’re sorry.”
This line captured my eye when I first saw it from the cover of the book entitled “A Love Story” by Erich Segal. Of course my first impression was; “What in the hell was that suppose to mean? How can it be true?” Come on, I say sorry all the time to a lot of people I love. Does that mean that I don’t love them enough?
Come to think of it, how can we show people we love that we love them without saying sorry or asking for forgiveness whenever we do something terrible or stupid to them? I mean, we do hurt other people and sometimes, we even do it intentionally and to hell with the consequences. Likewise, we mess up with other people’s lives without our knowing and the only way to ease the pain and be guilt free of something that we did intentionally or not is to be sorry.
At first, I can’t understand the notion and the deepest point of the author until I finished reading the book. As I go on with every chapter, I finally realized that love is not all about saying how sorry we are to the people we love and we treasure so much. Hence, love is all about sacrificing and giving exactly the right and great things for people. Love is all about putting others before one’s self without having second thoughts and hesitations.
It was a really great story though it was short, it then inspires me with a lot of things.
